A huge fight broke out between two groups of young men on a busy high street in Blackburn.

The incident happened on Whalley New Road in Bastwell on Monday night and involved up to 10 people.

Cars had stopped in the middle of the road as a group of young men started fighting outside a takeaway and bookies.

Police said no arrests were made as both sets of people had left the scene by the time they had arrived.

In footage seen by the Lancashire Telegraph and shared on WhatsApp, a man can be seen violently kicking another man during the melee whilst another man punches one of those involved.

As one of the men attempts to get back into a car he is then set upon again and the fighting continues in the middle of the road. One man attempts valiantly to break up the fight and other bystanders urge the men to stop fighting, but they take little notice.

Lancashire Telegraph:

When it appears the brawl has stopped it erupts again on the corner of Ash Street, near the Frango’s takeaway, as there are shouts that the ‘police had been called’ in attempts to diffuse the situation.

The brawl brought the busy road to a standstill with cars blocking both lanes for several minutes.

It is not clear what started the fight.

Police said they were called at 10.12pm on Monday 13 May to reports of an ongoing fight.

A police spokesperson said: “Our officers quickly attended however all parties had left the scene.

“There are no reports of any serious injuries. Nobody has been arrested at this time.

“This is being treated as an isolated incident.
