Goals by Jordan Goodeve and full-back Rob Henry gave Chorley a well-deserved first win of the season, but the Magpies defence had to withstand late Radcliffe pressure after substitute Steve Howson reduced the arrears 20 minutes from the end.
Zac Jones saved at Howson’s feet and in stoppage time tipped a point-blank header over the bar.
Goodeve gave Chorley the leader on 19 minutes, seizing the ball when keeper Greg Hall spilled Martin Clark’s long free kick, and in the 76th minute following a Danny Nolan backheel Henry scored with an angled shot that went in off the far post.
There were a lot of positives in the Chorley performance against a lively Borough side who had won their last two matches.
After a gruelling tryout following an ankle injury, skipper Kieran Fletcher said he hoped to be fully fit for Saturday’s FA Cup preliminary round tie against Atherton Laburnum Rovers at The Chorley Nissan Victory Park Stadium on Saturday.
