We love to find amazing venues to socialise with family and friends in East Lancashire with our 'Pub of the Week' feature.

This week, we have chosen a 'traditional, family run inn', nestled in the heart of the charming village of Roughlee.

Name of the pub: The Bay Horse

Address of the pub: Blacko Bar Road, Roughlee, BB9 6NP

Amidst some of the most beautiful scenery in a rural yet accessible location in East Lancashire, The Bay Horse is known for attracting numerous visitors, with many returning 'time and time again'.

Its website says: "With suppliers supporting our ethos to source the majority of our produce from the local area our menus reflect the diversity and flavours of Lancashire and the surrounding areas.

"Our skilled kitchen team then create a wide selection of dishes designed to suit both traditional and contemporary tastes.

"We are building an outstanding reputation for quality food, friendly service and a great atmosphere and look forward to sharing it with you.

"The Bay Horse is the perfect place any time of the day or evening to enjoy a delicious meal or a simple drink."

As a dog-friendly pub with a beer garden, it is the perfect place to call in from your walk and enjoy a refreshing drink or bite to eat.

Food can be accompanied by wines from the extensive wine list, and with up to four cask ales, including regular local guest ales from breweries such as Bowland & Timothy Taylor, there is something for everyone.

Lancashire Telegraph: Highlights on the menu include saffron paella, Sunday roasts, and Spring salads.

Voted as the number one restaurant in Roughlee on TripAdvisor, it has an average rating of 4.5 stars from nearly 500 reviews.

One user named Jessica H wrote: "Absolutely amazing food!

"A little on the pricey side but worth every penny! We couldn't get over how nice the food was.

"We will definitely be returning when we are back in the area."

Lancashire Telegraph: Hazel E wrote: "The meal was excellent and the staff extremely courteous and attentive.

"I went for the Sunday roast beef and it was cooked to perfection (just a little pink, which is just how I like it). Lots of accompaniments, mash, roast spuds, cauliflower cheese, carrot, parsnip, mange tout and green beans and a huge Yorkshire pudding and lots of gravy.

"My husband had the fish and chips, and the batter was cooked to perfection. We will definitely return when in the area."

Catherine D wrote: "Thank you to all the staff for all your incredibly hard work whilst creating a perfect surprise party for my mum and 50 of her friends.

"The buffet was just delicious, the bar, the service, and the atmosphere was fantastic. What an incredible day to remember.

"Anyone wanting somewhere lovely to eat with a great atmosphere, The Bay Horse is a must. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they are so accommodating."
