So thousands of plastic boxes and bags will now need to be thrown away or recycled. Not very green! The council leader says that returning to weekly rubbish collections would cost £1/2 million per year.
So when the collections were halved to fortnightly (were taxpayers consulted then?), the council must have made a 'cost improvement' of £1/2 million.
What happened to this saving? Maybe some of it was spent on painting white lines on Euxton's roads and paying again to remove them.
We can now look forward to a reduction in our Council Tax bills from next April.
