Dear Citizen editor, I would be obliged if you would publish this letter.

It's time for a little praise for the council, I think.

Dear Ms Lindsey Ralston, Chorley Borough Council, Civic Offices, Union Street, Chorley.

I'm writing to offer you a long overdue THANK YOU! for the ground works carried out at Blainscough Wood, Coppull.

The additional landscaped paths in the valley by the stream really do make for a pleasant walk during the day; the only comment I would have, is that a handrail by the steps would be of assistance to both the partially-sighted and the less able who might like to extend their leisure strolling through the woods and by the stream.

The bench on the hill is ideally situated, and a good resting place for those of us whose knees are not what they once were.

Thank you once again for being such a good listener, and for the really natural way that the area is being improved.

I've passed a copy of this letter to Councillor Stella Walsh as an endorsement for some of the good works our council carries out for us, but which are rarely acknowledged or appreciated.

R McGarry, via email
